Here’s our 2026 battlefield tour schedule. At Knee Deep Into History we offer three different types of battlefield tours:

Signature Small-Group Battlefield Tours,
Bespoke Battlefield Tours for Family and Friends and
Bespoke Association Battlefield Tours.

You can find more information on each type below.

2026 Signature Small-Group Battlefield Tour Schedule

These are generally 6 – 8 day all-inclusive tours designed to study a specific battle(s) or military unit(s) in-depth. The small-group structure maximizes the interaction between guides and guests, and your multi-lingual guides will help you bridge European cultures smoothly.

We anticipate having brochures for each tour complete by 30 September. Click on any tour title to learn more about it and join us for an unforgettable experience!

Bespoke Battlefield Tours for Family and Friends

Have family members interested in seeing where their relative(s) fought? Alternatively, are you a group of family or friends who enjoy historic vacations? We can design a multi-day tour that visits the sites you want to see and that meets your budget and time frame.

One of our favorite tours occurred in 2023 where we took twelve family members on a six-day bespoke battlefield tour that spent three days covering a great uncle’s fighting during WW1 and a father’s fighting during WW2. This multi-generational tour involved five brothers, spouses, children and grandchildren. It truly was rewarding to bring history to life for all generations!

Testimonial: “This week has been a dream come true for me, thanks to the meticulous preparation and execution of the two of you. I truly felt as if I was walking in the footsteps of my grand-uncle in WW1 and my dad in WWII, seeing what each of them was seeing and trying to imagine what each of them might have been thinking and feeling during their respective wartime experiences. I couldn’t have asked for a more meaningful experience and the way the two of you embraced my entire family made the experience even more magical and memorable for me. I can’t thank you enough.” John Decker

Here’s another example: In 2024 we created a tour for a group of military history travel buffs that covered the Ardennes, Market-Garden and the Hürgten Forest in a week-long tour. This tour helped us become acquainted with Market-Garden and the Hürtgen Forest.

Testimonial: “Just wanted to say that this was a fantastic trip. You guys were as prepared as I have ever seen. We asked a tremendous amount of “destinations” and must see locations, and you guys killed it!!! You covered three large battles and did a fantastic job in providing key stories, facts and battles in a way that we could easily follow. Thanks again for a great week.” John Molnar

Let’s get the ball rolling. Communicate your needs with us, and we’ll start dreaming up a tour that participants will long remember. Email kneedeepintohistory@gmail.com or call Randy Gaulke at 908.451.0252.

Bespoke Association Battlefield Tours

Do you belong to a veteran’s organization, a division association, or a similar group that has an interest in visiting the WW1 or WW2 battlefields? If so, we can design the perfect battlefield tour for you!

In May/June 2025 I accompanied the 65th Infantry Division Association as the historian on their “Right to be Proud” Tour. As tour historian, I worked with the Association and its tour operator to help design the itinerary and to arrange commemorations and meet-ups with various European towns and associations, utilizing my language skills and cultural knowledge.

Here’s another idea: We can design the tour to be a fundraiser for your group! Our 2026 28th Infantry Division Association Tour is just that for the WWII American Experience Museum of Gettysburg, PA. A portion of each participant’s registration fee will be paid to the museum.

In 2023 we designed a fundraiser tour of the Yankee Division battlefields of WW1 for the Connecticut State Library’s Digging Into History program. The tour was timed to coincide with the 100th Anniversary Commemoration of the donation of a water fountain to the town of Seicheprey, France by Yankee Division doughboys. The small-group tour also included four members of the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard, and we were able to take them to sites where their forefathers fought with the Yankee Division in 1918.

Testimonial: Randy and Markus, on behalf of the men, women and horses of the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard we can’t thank you enough for your professionalism, organization and friendship on this tour. Being able to walk in the footsteps of our unit and men during the Great War has been a tremendous experience. However, visiting the cemeteries and honoring our fallen has been very emotional and the highlight of this journey. With kindest regards and admiration, Cpt. Paul Mazzara, Lt. Col. Steven L. de Friesse, 1LT Barbara Spremullo, LTC Gordon Johnson.”

The point is this: We can work with you to develop a bespoke battlefield tour tailored to the interests and needs of your association! Email kneedeepintohistory@gmail.com or call Randy Gaulke at 908.451.0252 to start the process.
