One of the more unusual recent events at Knee Deep Into History was an invitation from VisitMalta.com for KDIH to participate in the VisitMalta Tourism Education Trip for Tour Operators in May 2025. The company’s goal is to promote tourism to Malta focused on Malta’s rich military history during WW1 and WW2. KDIH founder, Randy Gaulke, will join a small number of military tour operators from the US and other countries on this educational trip.

Who knows the end result? Malta had not been on our radar screen until now. However, at vendor events people have expressed interest in tours to North Africa and Italy, and visits to Malta could be a part of any tour. We have not designed tours in those regions, because we lack the military history, the cultural and language knowledge and the contact base to get people knee deep into history. However, with the right partner, this could be a possibility. This tour will also give us the ability to talk with other military history tour operators. We are definitely excited to participate and are keeping an open mind!
